How Gyrotonic Movement Works

Move your hand back and forth in water and you must remain very active to keep it going. The water reflects the chaotic, random energy pattern you've created. Now move in a circle, and soon the water carries your hand along for you, requiring less forceful effort and more refined, responsive movement. This simple, yet powerful principle is promoted in the human body through Gyrotonic exercises and equipment.

Our bodies are designed to move and rotate in all directions, not just in straight lines. This unique exercise system integrates breath with movement while taking the body through its full 3-dimensional range of motion. Building a strong abdominal core supports larger, more fluid movement possibilities in our limbs and spine. Simultaneously building strength and flexibility, this state-of-the-art workout enables the whole body to work together in harmony with its structural design.

Gyrotonic was first developed by Julio Horvath for training the exacting bodies of professional dancers. Many chiropractors and orthopedists around the world regard it as more ergonomically sound than most other fitness, conditioning and physical therapy options. Circular movement is possible in limitless directions and range. Clients build strength and flexibility without joint strain or compression, maintain and enhance postural integrity, and gently stimulate injured areas.
